Moderation
How we decide which reviews get published, how we verify a booking, how bands can flag reviews, and how disputes get resolved.
Review Moderation Policy
Why we moderate
Reviews exist to help future bookers make better decisions and to give bands honest feedback on real engagements. We moderate every public review against this policy so the directory stays useful and fair.
- Keep reviews truthful and tied to a real booking or performance experience.
- Protect bookers from misleading or manipulated content.
- Give bands a fair, neutral process for raising concerns about a review.
What gets published
Reviews that describe a first-hand experience with a real booking, performance, or direct interaction with the band are eligible for publication after moderation.
- First-hand accounts of a booking conversation, performance, or working relationship with the band.
- Specific, substantive feedback — what stood out, what could have been better, and the event context.
- Reviews from buyers, venue staff, event coordinators, or other people directly involved in the engagement.
What gets rejected
We reject reviews that don't reflect a real experience, target a person rather than the booking, or violate the platform's content rules.
- Fake, incentivized, or paid-for reviews, including reviews posted by anyone connected to the band.
- Harassment, slurs, personal attacks, or threats aimed at band members or other people.
- Off-topic content unrelated to a real booking or performance experience.
- Doxxing or sharing private contact information for band members, staff, or other reviewers.
- Copyright violations, scraped content, or material the reviewer does not have the right to publish.
- Content that appears to be unrelated to a real engagement with the band being reviewed.
How we verify a booking
When a review can be matched to an accepted booking inquiry on the platform — same reviewer contact, same band, and a confirmed booking conversation — it earns a "Verified booking" badge on the public profile.
- Verification means the reviewer's contact details match an accepted inquiry attached to that band.
- Reviews without a matching inquiry are still eligible for publication if they pass moderation — they simply do not display the verified badge.
- Verification status is informational only; it does not override moderation decisions about the content itself.
Owner response window
Band owners can flag any published review for re-moderation. We target a response within five business days of receiving a flag and will write back to the band with the decision and reasoning.
- Use your owner dashboard to flag a review for moderation team re-review.
- We aim to acknowledge flags within two business days and resolve within five business days.
- Owners can also post a single public reply to any published review through the dashboard.
Dispute and removal
Either a band owner or a reviewer can request that a review be removed or corrected. The moderation team handles each request neutrally, without taking sides, and explains the outcome in writing.
- Bands can request removal via the owner dashboard or by writing to the moderation team.
- Reviewers can request edits or removal of their own review by contacting us with the same email used to submit it.
- Disputes are evaluated against this policy — not on the basis of the rating itself.
- If we remove a review, we tell both the reviewer and the band the reason and the policy section that applied.
Anti-defamation
Content that is defamatory, threatening, or illegal will be removed promptly. We may preserve the underlying record for legal or safety purposes and may report it to the appropriate authorities when warranted.
- Defamatory statements — false statements of fact presented as true — will be removed once identified.
- Threats of violence, doxxing, or coordinated harassment campaigns are removed immediately and may be referred to law enforcement.
- Legal demands for removal should be sent through the contact page so the moderation team can route them appropriately.
Questions
Questions about this policy, requests for re-moderation, or removal disputes can be sent to the moderation team through the contact page.
- Reach the moderation team via the /contact page.
- Include the band slug, the review ID (if known), and the reason for your request so we can route it quickly.
