The PettyBreakers hosted a very special event at the Belly Up Tavern on January 6th, 2013, to help raise money for the American Red Cross and Hurricane Sandy victims, which struck the East Coast last November. In all, they raised nearly $14,000 in ticket sales and items auctioned during the event.
Joining the PettyBreakers for the better part of the set was none other than Ron Blair, bassist for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, who also performed "Black Leather Woman" on vocals and guitar with the band. Other guests who joined in and played their favorite Tom Petty songs included rock/blues guitarist extraordinaire Joe Bonamassa; Andy Fraser (bassist of 70's rock group Free); Jesse Valenzuela (Gin Blossoms); and Keith Scott (guitarist for the Brian Adams band).
Proceeds from the event went to the Red Cross' Hurricane Sandy Victims fund. There is still time to donate as many victims are waiting for serious relief. Those who would like to donate can still do so directly via the Red Cross website.
